What’s your REVERB?

We are Energy and Light

A couple days ago, as I sat contemplating the myriad folks I had encountered in my day of tarot readings at the shop, a vision dropped into my noggin. There, in bold white letters across my mindscape, I saw the word “REVERB” and immediately knew it was a reference to the way our actions and thoughts move through our lives and the other beings we encounter. Notice I say beings…all beings from every kingdom on this planet, can be affected by our energy.

I have been hurt many times in my life. I am human. I don’t think there is any human creature who escapes life without harm, no matter how much care we take. I’m a people pleaser and I try to pay attention to the needs of the hearts of others. Yet, I too have left a trail of harmful actions. We harm and we are harmed our entire life. Bear with me, I’m not trying for morosity here.

In the moment the word “REVERB” entered my consciousness, I realized too that my actions reverb out beyond my circle. Maybe I was cranky for lack of sleep and was a little too self absorbed in a moment and snapped out at someone just moving through their day. The ripple of that interaction can then continue to gain energy as the offended party encounters other beings and they might AMPLIFY my cranky energy. Pretty soon, my energetic pond is full of ripples colliding in a cacophony of crankiness. Instead of harming one person in a moment, I leave a trail of energetically harmed beings and it doesn’t stop. It continues to ripple…a forever energy stream wreaking havoc.

I was also made aware, in this moment of insight, that there is also a dampener that can tamp down or stop this reverb of crankiness and convert it to a reverb of healing and happiness, instantly. How does this happen? It is a conscious move to shift the energetic reverb to one of compassion. Compassion for myself, for the folks around me, can soften any cranky reverb that I am receiving from this pond of rippled energy. To infuse the ripple of energy flowing out of my being with grace, patience and kindness changes the entire stream from that point forward. It reverberates out and affects all the streams of cranky energy it encounters, fizzling out that negative reverb and changing an entire stream thereafter.

I won’t pretend to be some magical person who moves through my day sending out a compassionate dampener reverb. I wish I could achieve that level of perfection, but that’s not part of the human experience. So, instead, I move forward with this awareness that my cranky actions do not end with the person in front of me…they move on until they are changed through the compassion of someone who decides to change the reverb. I aspire to be the person that reverbs more compassion than crankiness.

With gratitude,

Tamara
